Mission Statement for the Community Engagement House (COHO):
The purpose of and mission for the Community Engagement House is to promote a seamless community amongst college students and residents of surrounding areas by hosting events open to all and providing networking and a physical meeting place for organizations devoted to serving the community at large.
Disclaimer: You may not get a single. You may not know your roommate. Just like your room isn’t guaranteed, the house isn’t guaranteed. Those chosen to be in the house will be active participants in reapplying for the house in April 2010. You can apply if you are going abroad next year, please just note on your application which semester you will be abroad.
Directions for Applying: Please answer the following questions and keep in mind we're hoping for quality over quantity. Please email your responses to Lara Case at caselr0@sewanee.edu and send your drawing for question 6 via the student post office or attach a pdf. There will also be an information session about living in the house and what we do on Sunday, March 7th at 8:30pm at the Community Engagement House (attendance is not required to apply).
1)Why do you want to live in the house? What do you hope for the future of the house and for the Sewanee community?
2) Please describe an event you’d hope to have for the house. Perhaps address the vision for the house you mentioned in question one.
3) How are you in involved in the community either in Sewanee or elsewhere?
4) What are your strengths? How will you apply these as you live and work with eight housemates? How will you apply these to your work with the broader community?
5) Add a resume and a reference’s name, phone number, relationship, and email.
6) Finally, please utilize any all creative skills you have to draw the house. Add things that already exist at the house that are important to you or things that you’d like to see at the house. Have fun with this.
